Legal Information
Sublinkstage.com Rideshare is an online service that provides a venue to enable persons who seek transportation to certain destinations ("Riders") to find persons driving to or through those destinations ("Drivers"), and likewise for Drivers to offer a seat to Riders who may be looking for an itinerary similar to the Driver. Contacting other users and making postings are permitted only for personal use for the purpose of arranging a ride. You must be at least 18 years old to use this service.
All Sublinkstage.com Rideshare users correspond by email.
Postings and email to members using this service must be polite in tone. In order to better serve our user community, correspondence through this site may be monitored.
Only one posting per ride, please. You can place additional information in the origin, destination, or comment fields to indicate flexibility in travel arrangements.
A separate listing for the return leg of a round trip is required.
Insurance and Payments. Please remember that a Rider "paying" for a ride or a driver "collecting" a fee, may in some cases invalidate a private vehicle insurance policy. Most policies state that they do not cover using a vehicle "for hire or reward" and while normally insurance companies do not regard a contribution towards fuel costs as invoking this restriction it should be clearly agreed between the Rider and a private Driver if any expense contribution is offered or expected.
Note that some of the "Drivers" posting rides may be Commercial Transportation companies, and therefore permitted to charge a fee if they have the relevant passenger liab ility insurance. Commercial businesses are required to register as such and will be marked as such on any posting.
Please keep in mind that the internet is like a big city with all kinds of people in it. Don't travel with someone you don't trust. By using this service you agree that Sublinkstage.com Rideshare and related persons are not responsible for your safety, comfort, or successful travel arrangements, or for your belongings, or for any other liability with regard to your use of this website. Contacting other users and making postings are permitted only for personal use for the purpose of arranging a ride.
Safety Tips
Ridesharing between towns and cities is a fun way to make friends and travel more flexibly. Whether ridesharing via Sublinkstage.com Rideshare or elsewhere, you should always exercise caution and common sense to protect yourself from unsafe situations. As with other online and offline transactions between people, there are inherent risks to ridesharing.
We suggest some helpful "rules of the road" for traveling smart on your shared journeys. We encourage everyone including your prospective travel-partners to review these safety tips.
Use Your Best Judgment
Determining a travel-partner's honesty, driving credentials, and/or background is ultimately your responsibility.
Trust your instincts if something feels suspicious or peculiar. Never hesitate to close communication or politely back out if it doesn't feel right. You're in control of the entire process in terms of questions you ask, who you choose, and how you meet, so you can take the necessary measures to enhance safety.
Be Wary of People who:
- Ask strange or inappropriate questions.
- Give unclear answers or refuse to answer your questions.
- Lack consistency in their details online, over the phone, or in person.
- Ask for unexpected services beyond the pre-agreed arrangement.
- Offer taxi or chauffeur service, unless a bone-fide commercial business.
Identity protection tips include:
- Don't share contact details in 'Notes' when offering or requsting rides.
- Please realize that Sublinkstage.com Rideshare does not run background checks, evaluate driving history, drivers' insurance, or driver's licenses (except for our own employees). As with other ridesharing venues online and offline, we facilitate ridesharing within a community that is mostly dependable, friendly, and honest. However, the characteristics of people vary and you are encouraged to investigate prospective travel partners including running your own background checks, and ensuring that all drivers' licenses and insurance are current and consistent with the information you expect.
You are Encouraged to Take These Extra Measures
Do:
- Tell a trusted friend or family member about your trip plans and expected arrival times
- Get at least one contact reference from your travel-partner.
- Carry a fully charged cell phone with emergency contact numbers.
- Meet in a public and "high-traffic" pick-up and drop-off location.
Don't:
- Ride in a vehicle that seems unsafe.
- Proceed with a trip you do not feel comfortable about for any reason.
- Carry highly-valuable or possibly threatening items on you.
- Change your itinerary without informing friends or family.
